British White’s also got a mention in another Stock & Land article on former member Caitlin Williams. Notwithstanding Caitlin is no longer a member of the Society, she is continuing to use British White genetics in the commercial side of the Shrublands Estate Angus cross breeding program.
The article focusses on Ms Williams application of data and specifically genetic data in herd improvement along with the use of AI and ET in building the “strength and soundness of the maternal side of the Shrublands herd.” You can read more about this concept in our segment on <selection pressure> in this edition.
Of particular interest are her reflections on the attributes of the British Whites that carry across to the Angus in particular their temperament.
