This last quarter we welcomed three new Full Members:
Clinton Leahy – Charlton Park Stud.
Clinton runs Charlton Park Beef, running around 50 head at his 120-acre farm at Coolagalite in the Bega valley of NSW. He runs a commercial herd of Simmental cattle which he mostly sells as weaners. He also has a Mandalong Special stud and became interested in British Whites through the connection to Mandalong Specials and through family friends who ran Tokaze Stud.
Dulla Dulla Pastoral Company – Dulla Dulla Stud
Andrew & Kerrie Martin featured in our June quarter newsletter. They have since joined the Society. We are working with the Martin’s to have their currently unregistered herd of British White cattle registered in the Australian herd book.
Cindy Kirby – Medhan Stud
Cindy Kirby hails from Springsure in Queensland where, together with her husband and his family, she runs around 3000 Brahman breeders and crosses across landholdings totalling around 17,700 ha. They started with pure Brahmans and now cross to Blonde D’Aquitanes then join the first cross progeny back to Brahmans. They mate the heifers from 12 months to Belmont Reds for calving ease.
Cindy has had a “hobby” of breeding Highland cattle at the family property with husband Clive. She also raises all poddys from the holdings. After deciding the Highlands were unsuited to the climate, she cast around for another breed which would be suited to cross over the Brahmans and selected British Whites.
